Melissa's album "Old Fashioned Love" was nominated for Best Vocal
Jazz Album in the
Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2006. The nominations were
selected out of 25,500 albums from over 100 countries.
DECEMBER
2005
"Old
Fashioned Love" was reviewed by Michael Steinman in the
December, 2005 issue of The Mississippi Rag, a
traditional jazz magazine. The cover article of the issue is a
biography of trombonist Bob Mielke, who is also on the "OFL"
CD. Melissa had the good fortune to work with Mielke and many of
the musicians mentioned in his bio during her college years at
Berkeley, and these legendary players were a big influence on
her and were the inspiration for "Old Fashioned Love."

"Old
Fashioned Love" was released in Japan on the MUZAK,INC
label in October, 2005. MUZAK owns European jazz label ENYA and
features artists such as Madeleine Peyroux and Karin Krog. Upon
release in Japan, "Old Fashioned Love" received good
reviews in Tokyo newspaper SANKEI, Swing Journal Magazine, Jazz
Life Magazine, and Record Collectors' Magazine in Japan.

2005: Melissa received the Will Rogers Award for Western Swing Female of 2005!
The awards show, sponsored by the Academy of Western Artists, took place in Richardson, Texas, at the Eismann Center Theater.
